Red, White, & Blue {White Chocolate Chip Cookies}

4th of July Cookies

Anyone been making fun July 4th themed foods? I’ll be honest I will take any excuse to make some yummy sweets so over the weekend I made red, white, & blue cookies. Not only do they look cute & patriotic but they are very tasty and simple to make.

Supplies

  • Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Stick of Butter
  • 1 TBS Cocoa
  • Red & Blue Food Coloring
  • 2 Handfuls of Ghirardelli White Chocolate Chips

Add Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix, Egg, Butter, Cocoa into large bowl & mix. {preheat oven for 375 degrees}

Divide cookie dough into two parts in separate bowls then add 30 drops of blue food coloring to one & 30 drops of red food coloring to the other.

Once fully mixed, stir in a hand of Ghirardelli white chocolate chips to each bowl.

Roll cookie dough into 1 inch balls then place on cookie sheet. Once your sheet is full place in oven for 8-10 minutes. {let cool for 2 minutes before removing from cookie sheet after baked}

Italian Antipasto Kabobs #LaRomanella

Smart & Final La RomanellaNow back to the Italian appetizer… in the fall I made an awesome Italian antipasto salad that was amazing however this time I wanted it to be a little more party friendly and easy for guests to grab. So I figured why not put everything on a stick like a kabob! {genus!} Here’s how I made them…

Supplies

  • Green Olives
  • Sandwich Pepperoni
  • Mozzarella Cheese {cubed}
  • Black Olives
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • 4.5″ Skewers

italian antipasto kabobsPrep all your supplies; drain olives, wash tomatoes, and cut mozzarella into cubes.

Valentine Rice Krispie Treats

Heart Rice Krispie TreatsWith Valentine’s Day tomorrow I thought I’d share the rice krispies I made for the teachers at my moms school.

Supplies

  • Rice Krispies Recipe {usually includes rice cereal, butter,
  • marshmallows}
  • Red Chocolate Melts
  • Sprinkles
  • Heart cookie cutter

Heart Rice Krispie TreatsAfter I made my rice kripie treats I melted the red chocolate melts in the microwave then poured an even coat across the top.

Heart Rice Krispie TreatsNext I sprinkled on some Valentine’s Day colored sprinkles then let cool for about an hour or so. After they were fulled cooled I cut the rice krispies into squares so they were a little easier to manage when using the heart shaped cookie cutter. When they were all cut it was time to head to the school for a little afternoon treat with the teachers.

Mint Chocolate Cake Pops #MyBaristaMoment

Cake Pops Chocolate MintLast week I headed to Smart & Final {one of my favorites stores} to pick up some supplies {including some cake pops supplies} for a few recipes I have planned. While I was there I checked out the Ambiance coffee selection. They are currently having a promotion that if you make the switch to Ambiance coffee then enter the code from the bottom of your receipt from the purchase here you will be entered to win some really great prizes including a DeLonghi Cafe Nero Coffee/Espresso Maker {Hello! what a great prize!} as well as gift cards. I am always up for a great contest so I picked up a bag of the Ambiance to take home to try. Then finished up gathering all my supplies for my cake pops recipe {and other items on my list} you can see everything I purchased on my shopping adventure on my google+ page.

Smart & FinalAnd now for the yummy cake pops recipe…

Supplies:

  • Cake Mix & ingredients it calls for
  • Cake pops pan
  • Milk Chocolate Melts
  • White Mint Chocolate Melts
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Non-Stick cooking spray
  • Flour

Cake Pops1. Prepare your cake as directed by your cake recipe

cake pops2. Spray cake pop pan with non stick cooking spray and lightly dust with flour

cake pops in pan3. Pour cake mix into cake pop pan {as pictured above, don’t mind the mess it can be a messy job}then place cake pop lid back on before placing back in the oven.

cake pops pan4. Place cake pop pan in oven set at 325 degrees for 20 minutes {or until toothpick comes out clean}. After the cake pops are done let cool for 5 minutes before taking them out of pan then let cool completely before moving onto step 5.

5. Melt your Milk Chocolate Melts in the microwave then dip lollipop stick into chocolate before placing the cake pop onto stick. {The chocolate will work as a glue to keep the stick and the cake together}

cake pops6. Dip your cake pop back into the melted chocolate coating the whole cake ball with milk chocolate then place on wax paper to dry. Repeat steps 5 & 6 until all cake pops are done.

cake pops 7. Melt your White Mint Chocolate Melts in microwave then drizzle onto cake pop {it can get a little messy so I did it over some wax paper}. Let dry & Enjoy!

Baked Mozzarella Sticks Recipe

So this past Sunday I was watching QVC’s show In the Kitchen with David right from my iPhone {love technology!}. I love seeing all the great new kitchen products on the market; if you’re a foodie you should totally check it out sometime {the app is Fr-ee on itunes}. I’ve watched QVC in the past however never ordered anything until I saw these Nonstick Oven Crisper Sheets.

Instantly I thought they would be perfect to make homemade mozzarella sticks {I’m a BIG fan of moz sticks!} baked rather than fried. Plus they would save me money in the long run from buying them in the frozen food section at the grocery store. If you’re a big fan of mozzarella sticks you gotta try making them homemade sometime and using these crispers, they did just what their name says… made them crispy {Can’t wait to try them out on pizza}! Here’s how I made my homemade mozzarella sticks…

Supplies

  • 8oz Mozzarella Cheese {I bought a 16oz block & cut it in half}
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Salt
  • 1/2 cup Italian Seasoned Bread Crumbs
  • 2 eggs {beat & mixed}
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese {Shredded}

1. Mix Italian Seasoned Bread Crumbs, Garlic Salt, and Parmesan Cheese together into a shallow dish.

2. Cut Mozzarella Cheese into equal strips {mine were about 3in x ½ in}.

3. Beat & Mix eggs into a separate bowl then dip & coat Mozzarella Cheese with eggs.

4. Place Mozzarella Cheese into Bread Crumb mixture and coat. Repeat steps 3 & 4 until cheese stick is fully coated, then repeat with the remaining cheese sticks.

5. Once all your Mozzarella sticks are made place them in the freezer for 2+ hours before baking.

6. Preheat oven for 350 degrees and cook for 8-10 minutes. Let cool & enjoy with your favorite marinara sauce!

The amount of sticks this recipe makes will depend on the size you cut your mozzarella sticks. However, if cut about the same as I did it will make 10-12.  To see more of my QVC shopping experience you can stop over and check out my Google+ story.

Candy Cane Cupcake {Plus Gift Idea}

Have you been making any special treats for Christmas? Since I am a sucker for cute cupcakes a couple weeks ago I played around with making some that resemble candy canes for gifts. They are super cute and simple to make…

Supplies

  • Cake mix plus ingredients recipe calls for {I used strawberry since it’s a family favorite}
  • Red food coloring
  • White Frosting {I used Pillsbury Easy Frost}
  • Candy Canes {Crushed}
  • 9oz Tumbler
  • Clear goodie bag {Found in the party section of Walmart or Target}
  • Red Ribbon
  • Cute Tag

1. Prepare cake mix just as recipe or box directs then use food coloring to color batter red. Then continue on with baking directions and let cool.

2. After cupcakes have cooled, take out of cupcake liner and cut each cupcake into thirds {Pictured above}

3. Place the bottom third of the cupcake in the tumbler then put a thin layer of frosting. Repeat until cupcake is rebuilt then frost the top.

4. Sprinkle crushed candy cane on top of frosting on cupcake

5. Place tumbler into clear goodie bag

6. Punch a hole in your tag then string through red ribbon. Tie ribbon with tag around goodie bag with a cute bow then give your yummy gift to someone special.

Holiday S’More Bars {Recipe & Gift Idea}

This week I went to one of my favorite stores, Smart & Final, to pick up some supplies to make yummy S’More Bars. One of the items on my list to pick up was butter which at Smart & Final has the Real California milk seal on the box. Right now Smart & Final has a great promotion for California schools to help teachers with classroom supplies. For every seal collected and turned in the classroom receives a sweepstakes entry. For every 100 seals the teacher turns in they receive 25 Scholastic books or $25 school supply gift card. Now if only my mom lived in California, she’s a teacher and would love to receive some extra books or money for supplies.

And now for the yummy recipe…

Supplies

  • 2 cups Graham crackers (crushed)
  • 1 cup Hershey chocolate pieces (I used broke up the snack size bars)
  • 1 cup Marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • Non-Stick cooking Spray

1. Combine Graham crackers, Hershey Chocolate and Marshmallows into mixing bowl.

2. Add ½ cup melted butter to mixing bowl & mix well

3. Spray 9×9 oven safe pan with non-stick cooking spray

4. Pour mixture from mixing bowl into pan then press lightly

5. Cook for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.

6. Let cool then cut into bars and enjoy!

The great thing about this recipe is you can give this as a gift. I don’t know if you’ve ever received those cookies in a jar for Christmas but this is sort of the same effect except for S’mores. Just put all the dry ingredients in a mason jar add a cute tag {with directions} & label and easy Christmas gift everyone can enjoy!
