Hotel Transylvania Halloween Party

Happy October 1st everyone! Are you getting ready for Halloween? We kicked off the Halloween festivities with a little party/sleepover this weekend, in honor of the new kids movie Hotel Transylvania coming to theater. Since it just came out we haven’t seen it yet {but plan to} however the trailer looks too cute plus its “spooky” without being scary for kiddos which I love.

To prepare for the party we headed to Smart & Final, which boy have I missed since moving to the Midwest. {been out west for the past few weeks visiting family} Right now they are offering a special deal, when you buy two First Street bakery items you receive a free ticket to see Hotel Transylvania. {awesome deal! For more info click here} We picked up a red velvet cake and some mini chocolate donuts from the bakery section then continued on picking up other great First Street items. If you’d like to see our whole Smart & Final shopping adventure, you can check it out right on my Google + page.

For the party I wanted to stick to fun kid friendly foods that would go along with the movie characters. So we had…

  1. Vampire Blood Cake {First Street Red Velvet Bundt Cake}
  2. Black Spider Donuts {Using First Street Donuts}
  3. Grave Yard Pudding
  4. Mummy Hot Dogs
  5. Brain Cheese Ball
  6. Monster Eye Eggs
  7. Frankenstein Pudding
  8. Mummy Pizza
  9. Vampire Blood Juice
Everything was a hit and the kids thought it was so much fun to eat fun “spooky” foods. I loved hearing all their little giggles when picking out and eating their food. The biggest hit were the mummy hot dogs, Monster Eye Eggs and Grave Yard Puddings. The Brain Cheese Ball ended up becoming a “dare” to eat food, although it is just cheese the kids seemed to be the most “sicked” out by it. {haha} For breakfast we ended up saving the Black Spider Donuts to keep the theme rolling into the next day.
After we all ate and the kids goofed around in their Costumes, we end up doing a little silly photo shoot to help remember the night. {thanks to Photoshop I was able to make the photos look a little more “creepy”} Miss. A and Mr. N had so much with their friends at our Hotel Transylvania Party/Sleepover and can’t wait to go see it in the theater.

NASCAR party

Any race fans out there? Well here in our house you will find us sitting down every Sunday afternoon watching the race. So for the race in Vegas we decided to decorate and have a little party. We drove all around town {and called} going store to store looking for NASCAR party decorations. However we found out no one in Columbus sells anything NASCAR. Now if we were back in Phoenix we would find tons of NASCAR stuff. So since we couldn’t find anything I decided that I’d get a little creative and make my own.

checkered flag pendant bannerI made up two checkered flag pendant banner {one smaller then the other} that were super easy to make. I made it up on the computer then cut each triangle out before hole punching two holes in two of the corners. Then took red ribbon and strung it through the holes. It took maybe five minutes to make each.

NASCAR water bottles

Now I didn’t want boring bottles of water so I tore off the labels that came on them and designed cute new ones for a more personal touch for our guests. {Personalized drink labels are always great to do for parties}

DiGiorno® Pizza Party PackFor the food we went to Sam’s Club and picked up a DiGiorno® Pizza Party Pack {it feeds about 6 people} which was super easy and nice not having to cook for a party, just pop it in the oven for about 20 minutes and your ready to eat. {we also went to Costco however they didn’t offer any type of party packs} You can see our whole shopping adventure here on my Google plus.

NASCAR partyWe also added a couple decorations around the TV to put a finishing touch on our party. The Cars can be found at Walmart in the toy section and the small checkered flag pendant banner from above was the perfect size for around the TV.

We had a great time with our little party and can’t wait to do another. Do you homegate on NASCAR Sunday?

Super Bowl Food Fun

The super bowl is this weekend, are you homegating? Even though my team didn’t make it, were still having a little get together with some neighbors. All the funny commercials & half time show {Madonna} should make up for the lose. While looking on Pinterest for some party inspiration, I found these great football themed food ideas…
